Naked Kisses Dog Rescue's adoption process
Additional adoption info
If you are interested in one of our available dogs, the first step you need to take is completing an adoption application. Once your application is received, it will be forwarded to a volunteer for review. We strive to ensure the best suited home for each of our rescue dogs so there is a lifetime of love for the dog and the adopter. Completion of an application does not guarantee you will be the adopter of any dog.
Here is how the process goes:
Step 1: Complete our adoption application including vet and personal references.
Step 2: All veterinary and personal references will be contacted, so please be sure to inform them ahead of time to expedite this part of the process. Your vet reference(s) will need to confirm that any current pets you own are spayed/neutered and current on HW prevention. If our volunteer feels any major concerns after speaking with your references, the application process ends here.
Step 3: One of our volunteers will conduct an applicant interview and home visit. This allows us the opportunity to get to know you, your lifestyle, home environment, and to determine if your family is the best fit. All members of your household must be present for the home visit. If our volunteer has any major concerns after your home visit, or if you refuse a home visit, your application will be denied at this point.
Step 4: Once your application has been approved, we will coordinate a time for you to meet the dog you are interested in adopting. This could occur at your home or the foster's home. If after meeting, the foster parent does not feel you are the best fit for the dog, your application will be denied.
Step 5: When you reach this stage, you will be required to sign an adoption contract and provide payment of the adoption fee for the dog. The foster parent will coordinate with you to transfer the dog over to you.
Any travel arrangements are the responsibility of the adopter and must be approved by our rescue
prior to agreement of adoption.
Dog adoption fees apply to help recoup veterinary expenses.

Naked Kisses Dog Rescue, aka NaKiD Rescue, is a non profit, breed specific 501(c)(3) dog rescue, based Florida, serving the southeastern United States. We operate solely on donations from our compassionate supporters and from fundraising. Our main focus and mission is rescuing Chinese Cresteds and other hairless dogs in need.
With over a decade of rescue and foster experience, we fell in love with the Chinese Crested breed along the way. This sensitive breed captured our hearts with their beautiful and silly personalities. They're incredibly loyal and make wonderful companions to their humans. They are happy to go anywhere their humans want to go, or to curl up in bed and have a Netflix marathon. In our eyes, a person couldn't ask for anything more from their beloved canine companion.
While in our foster care, all dogs receive comprehensive medical and behavioral attention so they are ready to find their perfectly matched forever homes. We are entirely dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of this amazing breed, while educating others on responsible pet care and ownership. We also take in other hairless breeds/mixes, and occasionally other small dogs in need of rescue.

Support adoption and rescue. Why go to a dog breeder, cat breeder or pet store to buy a dog or buy a cat when you can adopt?
Why should you adopt?
Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life.
What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?
When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.
So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
