Basic Information About This Opportunity
Title: | Transport Van Driver |
Expiration date: |
Description
Help us save the lives of dogs who would otherwise be euthanized for lack of shelter space! San Antonio Pets Alive! sends dogs to our rescue partners in northern states, which do not have the same animal overpopulation issues. Volunteers needed to drive our Mercedes Sprinter van from San Antonio to our rescue partners in Washington state, Wyoming, Idaho and Montana.
This is an ongoing opportunity - we schedule two transports per month, so we continually need volunteers. There is no minimum commitment - volunteers can do one trip or multiple trips.
How it works:
Each trip will have two drivers to share the driving.
Trips last from 3-5 days, depending on drop off location.
Van holds 25-35 animals, depending on size.
Volunteers will drive straight through to the receiving rescue, then SAPA! pays for a night in a hotel so drivers can rest up before the drive back to San Antonio.
On the way to the rescue, drivers will stop every 5-6 hours to walk the dogs.
SAPA! pays for gas and provides a daily allowance for meals.
Background check and driving record check required.
Please email volunteer@sanantoniopetsalive.org if interested or if you have any questions.
