Story
Osiris is one of the sweetest cat you could hope to meet. Even staff at his vet office have fallen in love with him! He loves giving nose boops and being held. Osiris does have dental disease that needs to be taken care of sooner rather than later, so his new family should be up for that. If you'd like to meet this wonderful cat, please drop by the Cambridge PetSmart during open hours: Sat/Sun 12-2, Weeknights 6-8. And it would be helpful if you also fill out a quick pre-screen by copying and pasting the following link into your browser: https://bit.ly/3yRGpMD

Story
To adopt this cat from Black Cat Rescue, please fill out a profile https://blackcatrescue.com/adopt-cat-boston Lasagna is a sweet 1 year old medium haired girl. Please note that Lasagna will do best in a home where she is the only pet or where there is a very mellow resident cat. Here’s what her foster volunteer says about her:   How would you describe the cat's general personality? Lasagna is a gentle and sweet cat who spends half of her time napping, quarter of the time receiving pets, and the other quarter of the time playing. Although she can be shy and timid, she can also be very friendly, and of course, orange! Does the cat enjoy being pet? Yes! Lasagna enjoys being pet. After some time of being pet, she likes to purr and knead! If yes, on what parts of its body does the cat like to be pet? She likes head and neck areas, as well as her back. Are there any parts of its body that the cat does NOT like being touched? She doesn’t particularly like being touched on the paw or the stomach, and will gently pull her paw away or roll back to prevent you from petting her more.   Does the cat come on your lap? Lasagna does not like to be on my lap. She will immediately jump off. Does the cat like to be held? Lasagna tolerates being held for short amounts of time. After a few seconds, she will start wiggling to get out of my hand. Does the cat sleep in your bed? Lasagna will come up to the bed with me and keep me company for an hour or so, but soon takes off to more playing, adventures, and sleeping in the cat house. Does the cat seek your attention? She definitely seeks my attention when she needs something! She makes the cutest meow, and will hang around near your feet until she gets what she wants. Usually, it is for food. Does the cat like to play? Lasagna is definitely a very playful cat. She loves chasing after springs for hours, catching fishing rod toys (even if she isn’t the greatest hunter), and likes to tear apart catnip toys! What are the cat's favorite games and toys? Chasing springs is one of her favorite activities. She can dash around playing with them for hours! Or until the spring goes missing. How vocal is the cat? She is a little bit vocal. She will meow for attention, but they are pretty soft and short. What kinds of sounds does the cat make? The only sound I’ve heard her make are meows. Does the cat scratch a scratcher? She sometimes uses the scratcher. Lasagna also scratches on the doormat, the carpet of her cat tower, and sometimes my couch. Does the cat always use the litter box? Lasagna uses the litter box most of the time. If no, please explain. She has an interesting habit of peeing in the bathtub. She peed in the bathtub when she first arrived at my house and was staying in the bathroom. After she graduated the bathroom and started roaming around the house, I kept the bathroom door closed. One night, I forgot to close the bathroom door, and the next morning, I found that she had peed in the bathtub again! I suggest keeping the bathroom closed, so that Lasagna won’t be tempted to pee in your bathtub. Otherwise, she uses the litter box well. What food and frequency is the cat currently eating? She is currently eating the Fancy Feast grilled beef, and Fancy Feast Petites roasted turkey and sweet potatoes. She eats about half a small can in the morning, and the other half in the evening. I have dry food out for her to access at all times, but she doesn’t eat it often. She does not eat a lot, and is not motivated strongly by food. Is the cat picky about food? Lasagna is pretty picky with her food and treats. She will absolutely not eat the food/treat if it doesn’t smell good to her. I still am trying to figure out which ones she likes the best, but so far have been successful with the Fancy Feast grilled beef, and Fancy Feast Petites roasted turkey and sweet potatoes. What is the cat's favorite treat? She is not the biggest fan of treats and isn’t very motivated by food. I’ve had success with Churu (only the tuna and shrimp flavor), and Greenies filled with tuna. Even with those flavors, she often declines treats, especially if she has recently eaten. Does the cat ever swat (claws in) at you? If so, under what circumstances? No. Has the cat ever scratched (claws out) you? No Does the cat ever nip (teeth without breaking skin) you? Yes, when she wants to be pet, or doesn’t want to be pet, or wants food. Has the cat ever bitten you (breaking skin)? No. To the best of your knowledge, how does the cat react to new people? Social? Fearful? Lasagna will hide for a few hours when there is a new person. However, she will eventually come out to spy on the visitor! Does that cat have any cute/quirky traits that aren’t covered by the previous questions? Lasagna is a polydactyl! She has 6 toes on her front paws, and 5 toes on her back paws. In your opinion, what is the best thing about the cat? Why should an adopter choose THIS cat to adopt? If you want a cat that looks like a mighty lion with six toes, this is your cat! Despite her looks, Lasagna is a gentle, shy and sweet cat, and will surprise you with her cute personality. What are the cat's challenges and how have you found to best manage them? The challenges I’ve had with Lasagna are very minor, which are that she doesn’t like to eat very much, and that she peed in my bathtub twice. Otherwise, she is an excellent cat!   To learn more about adopting this cat in Massachusetts, please visit www.blackcatrescue.com or fill out an Adoption Profile at https://blackcatrescue.com/adopt-cat-boston.  May 8, 2025, 7:55 pm

Story
Meet Charlie! Charlie is as friendly and adorable as they come. He loves to be pet and will purr the moment you say hello. He’s always happy to hang out by your side or curl up nearby for some quiet company. While Charlie enjoys affection, he’s not a fan of being picked up—and he’ll politely let you know he prefers his paws on the ground. Charlie also adores other cats and will need a feline companion in his new home—whether that’s one of his current buddies or a friendly resident cat to snuggle and play with. 🐱 Little health note: Charlie has tested negative for FeLV (Feline Leukemia Virus), but he lived with a cat who has a regressive FeLV infection. This means the virus is suppressed and not actively spreading—but there is a very small chance it could still be contagious. The risk is low, especially in adult cats, but it’s something to be aware of when adopting. We’re happy to answer any questions and help you feel confident about welcoming Charlie into your home! 🐾

Story
Meet Bud! Bud is a very shy boy who’s still working on building trust with people—but when it comes to other cats, his heart is wide open. He lights up around his feline friends and finds comfort, confidence, and joy in their company. Bud is looking for a patient, understanding home that will give him the time he needs to settle in and feel safe. With the steady presence of a kind cat by his side, we hope he’ll learn to trust his humans and start to enjoy the love and care he deserves. Bud must go home with one of his feline friends from the shelter or to a home with a friendly resident cat who can help show him the ropes. 🐱 Little health note: Bud has tested negative for FeLV (Feline Leukemia Virus), but he lived with a cat who has a regressive FeLV infection.
