Story
Maggie (A136921) is a 1-year-6-month-old St. Bernard x shepherd mix who weighed nearly 90 lbs at intake!05/07/25 Foster update: Maggie arrived back at the shelter and was in poor health. We sent her to the vet who found that she had pancreatitis. Maggie has been in a medical foster while she received the appropriate care and was cleared for adoption. Maggie will need to remain on a prescription low fat diet for life to prevent this from happening in the future. In foster Maggie was said to do great with the other dogs and the cats in the home. She was said to have a â&#194&#128&#194&#156herdingâ&#194&#128&#194&#157 type of playstyle with the other dogs but did not exhibit this behavior with the cats. Maggie was also said to be quite the cuddler in foster! With that being said she does like to jump up and give hugs and can sometimes have a sneak approach, beware! Maggie was still have issuing with going potty in the home and does not seem to alert her owners when she needs to go outside. She is looking for a patient owner who can get her on a good schedule to help master potty training. If you are interested in meeting sweet Maggie, please let us know! 12/14/24 This adorable sweet girl is Maggie! Maggie's previous owners were moving and not able to bring her along, so she is looking for a new home. Maggie was described as being hyper, and she could stand to learn some manners. Enrolling her in a basic obedience course with a certified trainer would be a great place to start! She was said to be housebroken, and is used to be confined to one room when left alone but not in a kennel. She was described as being outgoing, friendly and affectionate, and she can be rough when playing. Please keep in mind that Maggie is an extra large sized breed, so her rough play may be too much for smaller kiddos. She was said to get along with humans of all ages, as well as dogs of all sizes and even cats! She has been known to jump on people and counter and get into the trash if given the opportunity. She is still a big puppy with some puppy-like tendencies like chewing and scratching. Making sure she has plenty of physical and mental enrichment can help with these habits. If you are interested in meeting Miss Maggie, please give us a call!May 9, 2025, 12:25 am

Story
From our current foster Update from our foster on our new girl Stella❤️❤️ She had a great first night here with us. A little bit about her that I've observed so far: First, she has calmed down significantly since I picked her up. She did immediately test me when I picked her up with some jumping and "love bites" that all puppies seem to do when meeting someone new. She has learned quickly that she can't do this but still needs some reminders. She is a fast learner. She seems to know basic commands like "sit" and "down". Most noticeably, she plays extremely well with Malcolm, so for a dog with her energy, it's been super helpful for her to have another young and energetic (and friendly) dog to play with. I think this has been the most helpful thing with getting her used to things here and taking the edge off of changing environments. She doesn't antagonize or engage with Tucker (my senior dog) unless he wants to. She is very treat motivated, so this should go a long way when training her. She was a bit restless last night, so I put her in her kennel to go to sleep which she did without any problems. She did wake me up around 4 to go outside for a potty break but she did drink a lot of water from all the playing they were doing yesterday. She had an accident in the truck on the drive here, but was likely due to the stress/excitement from having just met me and going to a new house. She seems to know boundaries when it comes to toys, ie isn't taking shoes/household items but has "confused" bathroom trash baskets for toy bins (easily avoidable). She pulls some on walks, but seems to calm down as the walk goes on. She does come with high energy at dogs on walks which I'm not sure if it's reactiveness or if she wants to play. I'll try to figure that out. During the day, so far, she has stayed by me in the house but explores some and goes through the dog door on her own to go outside. She and Malcolm have been on-and-off playing and resting throughout the day. Stella is currently in Palmer, she only has a foster until May 21st. She must find a foster by then, if she has not yet been adopted please if anyone can help
