Story
Mars (A139488) is a 9-month-old malamute x GSD mix who weighed over 70 lbs at intake!08/30/25 This exuberant young lady is Mars, aka Marzipan! Mars was brought to the shelter because her previous owners were not able to handle her chewing and destructive behaviors. Mars is a young and energetic dog looking for an outlet for that energy. Her previous owners did try hooking her up to a small sled, and she seemed to enjoy it. She may do great as a canicross and skijor companion! Mars is said to be housebroken, and has also spent time in a kennel. She has been known to whine and try to pull things into her kennel, so she will need some help in understanding that her kennel is a safe space. Mars was described as being a super affectionate sweetheart when she settles down. She is looking for a home without little kiddos, because she does not tolerate it well when her personal space is invaded. She was said to do well with cats, but she has never been around other animals, even other dogs. Mars has been known to bark at strangers upon meeting them, and she prefers women to men. She needs some help with her manners, as she has been known to jump on people and counters, dig and chew and get into the trash when given the chance. Mars is looking for that special person that can help her become the best that she can be! If you think you are that special person for Mars, give the shelter a call!August 31, 2025, 12:47 am

Size
(when grown) Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
Details
Good with kids, Good with dogs, Not good with cats, Needs experienced adopter, House-trained,
Story
We have been fostering Fiona for seven months. She is a two-year old sweet, loving and highly energetic Irish Setter.. We already have another setter and two of them is beyond our family's busy schedule in order to adopt her fully. She is great with kids and with our other setter, but tries to dominate (not harm) our cat, which stresses him out. She has done beginning dog training, is very smart, and wants to please. We walk with a leash, of course, and on more remote trails she gets off leash time. Her recall is good. She will be best with a person or family that can make sure she gets daily exercise.

Story
Pokey has lived indoors and outdoors, most of the day spent indoors. Pokey does let you know when he has to go potty, he will paw at you or stare until let out. Pokey does not have accidents and is not crate trained. Pokey can wait 1-3 hours before needing to go potty and is hardly left without people. When alone Pokey is free to roam the house and doesn`t bark or have accidents, he has only ever chewed on woodwork once when they first moved into a new house and he had been left alone but never did again. Pokey is not a fan of baths but loves being brushed and is a huge kisser. Pokey doesn`t love having his mouth touched or paws and will move away. Pokey is allowed on furniture and enjoys car rides. Pokey knows sit and treat commands. His favorite toys are tennis balls. Prev Owner describes Pokey as couch potato, friendly, affectionate, friendly to visitors and strangers. Pokey is super affectionate and loves to sleep near his people, he is pretty quiet typically but will sometimes play. He wants to put his head between peoples knees to ask for pets and attention, which sometimes will cause people to stumble a little. Pokey loves banana and apples. Pokey is a afraid of fireworks and pretty loud noises. Pokey is good at the vet and loves to smell everything and does not need to be muzzled. Pokey likes children. He does well with men and women, and Prev Owners are unsure how he is with cats and other small animals. Pokey does good with dogs, however, he did have a bad experience with a male dog that resulted in him needing staples and may be a bit unsure of fellow male dogs.

Story
Raven was being displayed at a Walmart parking lot to be gotten rid of so I picked him up. However my property says hes a restricted breed so I will not be able to keep him myself. He had nothing but a leash when I got him, now he has food bowls, bones, treats, toys, food, and a blanket to go with him. Hes very smart and active, he loves people and getting attention. He likes to sleep in the bed and getting cuddles. I didnt get much info on him so I dont know if hes kennel trained. He his potty trained and can be left inside without accidents. He can sit and shake as well.

Pug/Boston Terrier

Size
(when grown) Small 25 lbs (11 kg) or less
Details
Good with kids, Not good with dogs, Good with cats, House-trained,
Story
I met him at Petlove, and his name was Winston. Very regal and even crossed his paws like a mini king. He got his name Charger because, as a puppy, he would drop his butt and charge through the grass like a cartoon character. His floppy ears and head tilt have always brought laughter into our home. He is a cuddler and a couch potato. Prefers a crotch under the blankets. Loves chest and back rubs and butt smacks. He comes when called and stays in our open-acre yard without incident His birthday is July 13, 2013. Still a spry old man at 12 with lots of life to live through his expected 19-21 years. He recently had some teeth pulled and has a small limp, but otherwise has never had any medical issues. I have all the records, photos, and videos if requested. I am giving up my baby because of a recent disability and my inability to properly care for him. He deserves better. He would be perfect for special needs children or adults/seniors needing calm, quiet companion.
