Story
We got Nikey from Alaska Rescue. He’s a good dog with a lot of energy. He is 2 years old, he came from Barrow, AK. He isn’t the best on a leash but we have been working on it. Also getting him in and out of the car is challenging. He just never had to do so in Barrow. Treats definitely help! Nikey can sit and shake and knows how to take treats nice! I think a good home would be with a good yard fenced in. He’s great with people, kids, very loving, but certain dogs he loves and others not so much. I hate to see him go but with new job, I’ll be gone weeks at a time. I hope he gets to a good new home and we’ll be sad to have him go.

Story
Chena (A138798) is a 4-year-old Lab x GSD mix who weighed 70.1 pounds on intake! 06/24/25 This oh so happy girl is Chena! Chena is a true Alaskan Special â&#194&#128&#194&#147 a mix breed! Chena was said to be kennel-trained and housebroken! She would benefit from attending a basic obedience class with a certified trainer to continue working on her manners as she does like to jump up. Her prior owner stated she has never lived with children but was said to do well with the neighborsâ&#194&#128&#194&#153 kids when they came over. She was also said to be friendly to dogs but has no experience around cats, pocket pets, or livestock. Please ensure you are making appropriate introductions with all new animals. Chena is a very active girl and she is looking for a home that can keep her both mentally and physically stimulated. If you are interested in meeting this sweet bundle of joy, please let us know! Story
Red is a brave young neutered dog seeking a patient and loving forever home. Previously abandoned and likely not treated kindly, he is ready for a safe and loving environment. He is house-trained and crate-trained. While he occasionally barks, he is learning to build confidence through positive reinforcement and consistent training. Gentle, predictable interactions will help him feel safe. A home that enjoys quiet time and understands the need to build trust gradually will be the best match. Red is doing well in his foster home and is quite loving and sweet. He is eager to learn, loves going for walks, sunning on the deck, and once secure is affectionate.

Story
Musluk is 3.5 years old, very sweet and just wants all the love you can give. We adopted him when he was 8 months old from a very rough home situation. He has anxiety about being alone, he needs to be in the same room as you. He has been the best dog ever, but we need to live a life that doesn’t revolve around our dog. Musluk needs constant companionship, and someone who can accommodate his quirks. He does seem to have some neurological issues, but it just shows through his anxiety. He is very sweet with kids but would be better suited to an home without the stress that kids can bring. Mus loves big dogs and playing outside. He doesn’t do well around small dogs or small animals. It breaks our hearts to let him go, but it is time to prioritize our family. If you think you might be a good fit for Musluk, please reach out. Just know that he is a special case. Some strict training might help him, but we have not been able to make that happen.

Story
Solar (A138744) is a 3-year-old Chow Chow mix who weighed 58.4 pounds on intake but is overweight. 06/23/25 This sweet girl is Solar! Solar arrived at the shelter with her friend Odie! They arrived at the shelter and were placed on a stray hold after being left at a pet sitter's home for an extended period. Their sitter had wonderful things to say about this duo and only wished them the best! They were stated to enjoy each otherâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s company and would love to find a home together. We are not making it a requirement that they be adopted together, but if you are looking for a pair, please consider these two! It was mentioned that Odie may have a higher prey drive and would do best in a home without smaller critters. Please ensure that you are always making slow, safe, and controlled introductions with all new animals to set them up for success. Both Solar and Odie were also stated to be housebroken and have done well at keeping their kennels clean and tidy at the shelter! We do not know Solarâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s and Odieâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s experience level around children. They have been wonderful with the care staff at the shelter! They are both high-energy dogs and are looking for homes that can keep them both mentally and physically stimulated. If you are interested in meeting Solar or possibly the duo that is Solar and Odie, please let us know! June 25, 2025, 10:03 pm
