Story
Hi, I’m Penny! I’m a 5-year-old, 17-lb Chihuahua blend. Whoever adopts me will forever be rich in cuddles, adventure, and love.
General Behavior: Penny is very sweet and is working hard to adjust to her new life. She will join in with the rest of the family, so if everyone is chilling and settled, she will relax too.
Likes & Dislikes: Penny loves to be near her people at all times! She particularly likes to stay near her people during thunderstorms but has not been shown to shake or tremble. She hasn’t shown much interest in toys yet.
Training: Penny is a smart cookie! She is housetrained if let out regularly, she walks well on a leash, she is a good passenger on car rides, and sleeps in the people bed at night. She is also good with more complicated training: you can tell her where she can sleep, and she even understands commands such as “no”, “stay”, “come.”
Medical: Penny has Addison's disease that is well managed with a monthly shot and can be administered right at home. She also takes a low dose of daily prednisone. Her monthly medication cost should be budgeted and runs around $125/month. In addition to this, she of course needs her regular monthly flea and heartworm preventatives that every dog needs.
Other Animals: Penny gets along well with other small, playful dogs—as long as they don’t try to steal her snacks. She does not get on well with cats.
Children: Penny hasn’t been observed around children yet.
Home: Penny would do well in an apartment, condo, or single-family home. She will bark when she looks out the window and sees kids walking by and or if she hears the front door rattle, but she will settle down once you assure her that everything is ok.
Grooming: Penny should not need too much elaborate grooming, apart from bathing and brushing.
Overall: Penny will make a great companion for a loving family who can show her how amazing a dog’s life can be.
Do you think this Penny is from heaven? Then visit our website at www.PoodleandPoochRescue.org where you will find the application to adopt. You will be put in contact with the foster family for more information if it is a potential match. She is up to date on vaccines, microchipped, heartworm negative, and spayed. Her adoption donation is $300.
