Story
Welcome Nutz to CCPAL Rescue. Nutz is a 3-year-old Chug (Chihuahua/Pug). He weighs about 12 pounds and is full grown and a nice weight. This dog came from the hoarder or overabundance of dog situation. He is a quieter dog and likes to be held. He is definitely a lap companion. He is playful with other dogs and has the sturdy body of the Pug. He would love to be a companion for a person that is retired, partially retired or maybe someone with a household that is more quiet and wants a dog with a lower energy to join in. He would be ok with a smaller condo size yard. He is learning leash manners and getting used to commotion of the Rescue. He hasn’t experienced a lot of different things so he isn’t sure yet but he is really really nice. He is not a big shedding dog. He is fine with nail trims and baths and will make some lucky family a great companion. I would say anyone moderately active would be fine for this dog. He bonds deeply and he warms up with affection nicely. He would be fine with children. We like them to be 8 or older. He is getting vaccinations, neutered and he will be ready for his forever home soon. He is in Texas and can be adopted locally or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get him to Washington, Portland, Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. His adoption fee is 400 and transport is $200. Rhode Island and Massachusetts are not states we adopt to because of the regulations imposed by these states Contact Marlene at 210-867-1769 or email to ccpalinquiries@gmail.com if you have questions. Story
Up for adoption in Texas and New England: Tulip. Tulip is an honorary Labrador! This adorable girl is about four years old and weighs about 37 lbs. She was abandoned on some property with another dog, who is a Labrador, and a caretaker brought them food occasionally. Finally, they got turned into a shelter. We saved Tulip's Lab friend, but there was no way we could leave sweet Tulip behind, so we saved her too. Tulip was lucky enough to score a foster who just so happens to be a dog trainer. She says Tulip is an incredible, loving, and kind dog. Everyone who meets Tulip falls for her charms. Tulip loves everyone, and everyone loves her back. She’s good with other dogs, has ignored neighborhood cats, and hasn’t shown interest in chasing squirrels, birds, or other wildlife. Tulip likes to explore and loves to go hiking, but at home, she’s pretty chill except when she tries to help you do yoga. :) She’s an expert cuddler who will snuggle up on the couch but happily sleeps in her own bed in the bedroom at night. She’s a sensitive girl who is easily cowed by a raised voice or another dog correcting her, and responds really well to positive-only training. Tulip is also bright and has mastered nice leash walking, waiting to go out the door, and being off leash (and her foster mom will do a free Zoom training lesson with her new person or family so Tulip can continue these good behaviors). Tulip does fine in a crate with water and a marrow bone or Kong, but she is no longer crated since she has mastered potty training. Some management in a new home while she adjusts is recommended. She prefers to have a yard to potty since she likes a little privacy. Tulip is currently living with five other dogs of various sizes and has had no issues with any of them. Tulip will alert you to possible intruders, but is happy to meet visitors. At just 37 pounds, she fits easily into any living space. She is missing some hair on her belly and neck due to years of neglect, and we don’t know if it will grow back; however, it doesn’t detract from her appeal at all. People love to pet her, and she leans right in with her full weight, loving to be loved on. If you’re looking for a sweet, easy, friendly, snuggly fur baby, Tulip could be your girl. She is spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. Tulip has a low thyroid (very common in dogs and people) and needs daily pills, but they are very affordable.
