Adopting a Lhasa Apso

Frequently asked questions about acquiring an Lhasa Apso - the pros and cons of adopting versus going through a breeder, and associated costs.

You can adopt a Lhasa Apso at a much lower cost than buying one from a breeder. The cost of adopting a Lhasa Apso is around $300 in order to cover the expenses of caring for the dog before adoption. Lhasa Apso fun facts

Fun Facts:

Despite being around for centuries, Lhasa Apsos weren't introduced to the West until the late 19th century. British colonialists in India that were vacationing in the Himalayan foothills took delight in these small dogs and took them to England with them.

"Apso" is the Tibetan word for "bearded."

In Tibet, Lhasa Apsos were so sacred they were never bought. They could only be given as gifts. It was thought that the souls of deceased llamas awaiting rebirth into a new body would spend time in the bodies of Lhasa Apsos.
