We adopt our dogs to California residents. More than 15,000 people have come here to get their Gentle Giants and Little Giants, because we have the best selection of loving companions. And, all of our dogs are healthy, housebroken and behaviorally trained to get along with people, animals, and all living things.
Also, our website is entertaining and informative, and with the multitude of colorful photos of so many beautiful giant breed and small breed dogs, you can start to imagine what it will be like to have your own Gentle Giant or Little Giant!
If you are approved to adopt, you will need to come to our facility in Riverside, California to select the dog of your dreams.

We have all ages and all colors (probably the largest selection in the nation). We are a national and international organization rescuing dogs from all across the United States and the world.
Located just east of Los Angeles in Riverside County, Gentle Giants Rescue and Adoptions, Inc. is a California non-profit 501(c)(3) public benefit corporation, and is the charity of Burt and Tracy Ward. Burt, who gained fame as the Batman’s sidekick “Robin, the Boy Wonder” in the 1960’s television series and in subsequent film and television roles, has built a comfortable home for the many 'Big Babies' that he and Tracy provide a loving home while awaiting adoption by qualified adopters.

There is always a wide selection of beautiful purebred Great Danes, Borzoi, English Mastiffs, Greyhounds, Irish Wolfhounds, Neopolitan Mastiffs, Bullmastiffs, American Mastiffs, Adronicus Mastiffs, South African Boerboel Mastiffs, Dogue de Bordeaux French Mastiffs, Saint Bernards, Great Pyrenees, Newfoundlands, and other Large Lap Dogs available for adoption at Gentle Giants Rescue and Adoptions, Inc. The population of dogs being adopted is always changing each day as more are adopted and others are rescued from shelters and arrive from homes where their owners can no longer keep them, usually because of hardship and changes in the lives of their owners such as divorce, illness, bankruptcy, job moves, military duty, etc.

These dogs are incredibly beautiful, healthy, and perfect family members who are in need of qualified new homes where they will again be loved and cherished and safe.

All of our Gentle Giants are professionally trained by us, and enjoy a rare and unique living environment - they all live communally and harmonously together - as one giant family - content and very happy - in our home. Also, prior to adoption to you, all of our Gentle Giants are fully house-trained, temperament tested and medically checked to be in good health by one of our several vets, and all are well socialized and friendly to all people and to all other animals.

Puppies are sometimes available, and there is always a variety of youthful and mature Gentle Giants, male and female, in every official and unofficial color.

Why should you adopt?
Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a dog or puppy versus getting dogs for sale or puppies for sale from a dog breeder? When someone is breeding puppies, they are creating new dogs who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog or puppy and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale from a puppy breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs who must find homes. So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog or adopt a puppy at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
