We are the Ohio County Animal Shelter, located in Rising Sun, IN, approximately 35 miles west of Cincinnati, Ohio and approximately 2.5 hours southeast of Indianapolis. We are a small rural community with a surplus of stray dogs. We are extremely rescue friendly. We have a 75% adoption and rescue rate.

Shelter FAQs

We are not limited as to who we serve. We are located in the southeastern corner of Indiana. We have sent our dogs as far south as Florida, as far north as Vancouver, Canada and as far east as New York. We will not ship (fly) puppies, as it is too stressful, but we will ship (fly) adult dogs. Please contact us, transports are available.

Additional adoption info

The fee for adopting a dog is $15. The fee for adopting a cat is $5.
