About Our Shelter:

Post Falls Animal Safety is a small Animal Control Facility located in Post Falls. We hold stray dogs from the City of Post Falls for 3 days and dogs from Kootenai County for 5 days before we have to find an alternative for them. We are "RESCUE FRIENDLY" and encourage altering your animals.

Our shelter is open to the public by appointment only. Please call 773-3517 if you wish to meet an animal at our facility.

Our Adoption Process:

All potential adoptors are subject to a background check by the PFPD. We ask that you have your new pet spayed or neutered. Assistance with spay, neuter, and vaccinating your new pet is available upon request.

When someone is breeding puppies, they are creating new dogs who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog or puppy and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale from a puppy breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs who must find homes. So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog or adopt a puppy at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
