About Our
Rescue
Group:
Grateful Dogs Rescue, a non-profit organization, was founded over 20 years ago by Michelle Parris, a former SF Animal Care & Control (SFACC) volunteer. She made it her mission to rescue SFACC shelter dogs not made available for adoption because they needed some medical help or some behavioral training. Rather than letting these dogs be euthanized, Grateful Dogs Rescue saves as many shelter dogs as possible by fostering these special-needs dogs until a loving home is found.
Come Meet our Pets:
Our dogs live in nurturing foster homes provided by volunteers. If you are interested in adopting one of our Grateful dogs, please complete our
adoption application. One of our volunteers will get back to you.
Our Adoption Process:
The Grateful Dogs Rescue adoption procedure is designed to find a good match between the dog and adopter. Our goal is a happy human and happy dog in a "forever home." The adoption procedure includes an application, interview, home inspection, and an adoption fee. The adoption fee helps to cover spay/neuter, shots and other medical care given before the dog is made available for adoption.
