About Our Shelter
CatNap from the Heart is a shelter located in La Grange Park, Illinois, specializing in the adoption of cat, kittens, birds and small mammals. We are unlike most shelters in that we take a lot of owner give-ups and also work with animal control agencies to rescue cats when they are overloaded. We are also a boarding facility so we can provide care after your adoption. We are dedicated to stopping the cycle of unwanted cats and kittens and spay and neuter all our cats and most rabbits prior to adoption.
Come Meet our Pets
Our hours are Monday through Friday noon to 5:00 PM , Thursday, to 8:00 p.m., and Saturday, 10:00 to 3:00 PM.. We are located at 1101 Beach Avenue (31st Street and Beach), about two miles west of Brookfield Zoo. We are just scheduling adoption events so watch our website for future announcements.
Our Adoption Process
We require you to fill out a short application when you come in to see the cats and kittens up for adoption. We prefer that most of the family take part in the adoption process so we can fit the cat to the family and their lifestyle. Adoption fees for cats start at $75. All cats are tested FeLV and FIV negative, spayed or neutered and microchipped, with initial shots. We only require that if you must give up the cat at a later date that you return the cat to our facility for re-adoption and that your cat live an indoor lifestyle only.
Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a cat or kitten versus getting cats for sale or kittens for sale from a cat breeder? When someone is breeding kittens, they are creating new cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of cat or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a cat for sale from a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with cats who must find homes. So rather than buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a cat or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group. |
