About Our Rescue Group:

Heavenly Acres Pet Rescue is a dedicated Rescue for no longer wanted dogs and puppies abandoned at Nationwide Animal Shelters as well as Puppy Mill rescued breeder dogs and "unsellable" puppies.

Owner and Director, Cindy Shipp Dorminey, started finding homes for unwanted and orphaned animals when she was twelve years old and has been successfully doing so ever since.

Based in Okahumpka, Florida, Heavenly Acres Pet Rescue is a non profit facility that depends entirely on most welcomed and needed donations from the public supplemented by monies out of our pocket in times of need. We are applying for a 501c3 status but it is our Prayer, Hope and Dream that someday there will no longer be a need for ANY animal rescue, either domestic or wildife.

Viewing of animals is by appointment only. Please contact us to schedule an appropriate time Heavenly Acres Pet Rescue to meet our adoptable furkids. Appointments will NOT be set up to meet any of our furkids without first having an Adoption Application on file. If you have any problem submitting an Application, please feel free to email us and we will be more than happy to send you an Adoption Application via email.

Our Adoption Process:

Our ultimate goal is to place any and all animals in our care in a perfectly matched loving Forever Home. To do that we need to make sure that the animal and the family are matched as closely as possible and our Adoption Application Process helps us achieve that goal. There are many variables that go into making Forever Home decisions regarding an animal's life and happiness. Each application is thoroughly reviewed on an individual basis. It usually takes only a day or so to process an Adoption Application but if there are many Applications for the same animal, it may take longer.

We will respond to Adoption Applications, E Mails and in coming phone calls regarding a filed Adoption Applications as quickly as possible.

We will not do a same day Adoption unless you have an approved Adoption Application on file. It is encouraged that you submit an Adoption Application, either by E Mail or Snail Mail, prior to visiting.

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a dog or puppy versus getting dogs for sale or puppies for sale from a dog breeder? When someone is breeding puppies, they are creating new dogs who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog or puppy and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale from a puppy breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs who must find homes. So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog or adopt a puppy at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
