Fayetteville/Lincoln County Animal Shelter
About Our Shelter
We are the only Animal Shelter aound in a 4 county area in a small rural town. Our Shelter is operated by the Humane Society of Lincoln County. We are dedicated to providing proper and humane treatment of all animals that come thru our doors. The Society was formed in 1985 by people distressed over the conditions at the local animal pound and concerned about the needs of orphaned, neglected and abused animals in the city and county. At that time, the Society took over the operation of an Animal Shelter and the investigation of all animal cruelty cases. This is work which we continue to do.
Your participation is vital to our mission. Please join our fast growing list of members. Annual dues are $35.00 and that (and our fund raisers) help offset the tremendous cost of running the shelter. The greater the enrollment, the louder our voice in defense of all animals.
We are constantly looking for volunteers to help with the animals in our Shelter, or if that isn't for you, we are constantly doing fundraisers, and can always use help with those. If you are willing to help in any way, transporting animals, picking them up at the vets, washing dogs, running errands...we can always find a perfect spot to fit your talents.
Open: Mon-Tues-Wed-Fri 9 am - 4 pm Saturday 9 am - 12 noon Closed Thur & Sun

Our Adoption Process
The cost for adopting a pet at the shelter is $75.00 for all cats, male and female and $85.00 - $150.00 for all dogs, male and female. This fee contributes to the cost of spaying/neutering, and a rabies shot. You will receive a $50.00 voucher to go toward paying for those services at the vet of your choice.
We have a contract for you to read and sign which basically says that you will abide by our rules and be a responsible pet owner. If the animal has not been spayed/neutered at time of adoption you will agree to have the pet taken care of as soon as he/she is old enough and provide proof of such.
Dog adoption and cat
adoption saves lives. Adopt
a dog or adopt a cat and you'll
have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting
a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats
for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?
When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs
and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of
dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed
is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten
breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.
So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat
or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt
a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane
society or pet rescue group.
