Adopt

Rudy's Rescue and Resource Services Inc

"From Trash To Treasure" -
We rescue dogs of good temperament and find them new homes. We have an extensive group of foster families who feed, care for, and train/socialize dogs as if they were their own, until the dogs are ready for adoption.

We carefully screen potential adopters to make sure they are compatible with their chosen dog and vice versa. We also have a foster-to-adopt program.

We cooperate with and assist other rescues, shelters, and animal control groups;

Educate the public about the "good" ways to obtain a companion animal;

Assist with common questions and referrals;

Rudys Rescue will also assist and hopefully contribute to the growing interconnection between rescue groups, shelters and others working with homeless animals. We will publish contact information for rescues and shelters in our area.

We strive to convince the public to consider adoption first. If that is not possible we encourage the public to obtain a puppy or older dog from a responsible/reputable breeder.

We work with the public to stress the importance of spay/neuter programs and do not allow any pet(s) to leave our rescue without first being spayed or neutered.

Rescue FAQs

Upstate NY - Due to our required home visit, we only adopt to homes within 60 miles of Rochester, including the Buffalo and Syracuse area. We do have volunteers in a few outlying areas, please send us an email to check on your location. Please email Sherry@rudysrescue.info to see if you are in our adoption area.

Additional adoption info

We are not a shelter; each of the animals you see listed with Rudy's Rescue is kept in a loving foster home. They are given love, training and the attention they require.

Adoptions through our rescue require an application process, please do not ask to see a dog until you have filled out an application, provided references and had home visit. Due to our required home visit, preference will be given to those in the Rochester, Buffalo, and Syracuse areas.

We strive to make the best match for each dog within our program. This process may take two weeks or more if you are not within the Rochester or Syracuse area. Please be patient, good things come to those who wait.

FOSTER-TO-ADOPT

In an effort to increase adoptions and ensure the dog you are interested in is just the right fit for you, the Foster To Adopt Program allows fully approved adopters to have a taste of what life with their new companion will be.

Those interested in the program will go through the regular application approval process. Once approved, the potential adopter may take home the dog they are interested in for 7-10 days for a $25 non-refundable donation. After the 7-10 day period, should you want to adopt the dog, the $25 donation will be applied to the dog's adoption fee and the final payment is due within 14 days of the start of your foster to adopt period. For puppies under 6 months of age, the foster to adopt option is not available. Otherwise, the dog is returned to Rudy's Rescue and you can feel good knowing you have helped with the dog's vet and care expenses.

Our adoption fee for dogs 1-7 years of age is $250;
for dogs under a year, $300;
and $200 for dogs seven years or older, or for dogs with serious handicaps.

PLEASE GO TO OUR ADOPTION PAGE FOR MORE INFORMATION AND ADOPTION FORMS:
www.rudysrescue.org

Since we are a volunteer organization funded entirely by contributions, we count on your continuing support as well as your adoption fees to help defray the costs of caring for our foster dogs. We are delighted to accept any amounts over these minimum fees to help other dogs in our care.
