Areas Lost Dog Sanctuary serves
We are primarily a sanctuary for unadoptable dogs, but because there are so many that need help, we do take in a few for which we work to find homes.
Adopting a dog while it's still a puppy gives them a better chance to grow with the family and bond for life.
Because of limited facilities, we try to limit intake and work with other shelters in the area. We are accessible to South GA and N. Florida, and transport to this limited area due to extremely limited funds.

We ask a lot of questions about children, other pets and the living situation. We want to make a permanent match between adoptor and pet. We require a fenced area for all dogs and shelter for any that will be outside pets. We check references (vets, landlords for rentors) and keep in touch after adoption to make sure the match is working out.
In the case of pitbull terriers, we do not adopt them to people with other dogs or cats, small children, or people with no experience with dogs. Pitbulls are like any other dog, but because of current public attitudes, we err on the side of caution.
We will take back any animal about which the adoptor changes his mind. That's why we ask a lot of questions. We want people who are looking for a life-long pet and family member, who have time for and enjoy having a pet.
We never give a pet away. Any pet will get shots before adoption . Sometimes the fee is the cost of spaying or neutering.

Lost Dog Sanctuary is a non-profit charitable shelter established for abandoned and unadoptable dogs and cats. We consider all God's creatures to have value and are worth every effort to support them.
We have been tremendously fortunate to have had 10 of the 16 puppies (born to 2 mothers ) taken by the Middleburg, FL rescue shelter! We are so relieved that they will find wonderful, loving homes and be healthy and safe. We have only 5 more to go!
Don Tilley, who runs the shelter, is a disabled vet on a small pension, so funds are very limited. All donations, whether financial , food or supplies, are gratefully accepted and deeply appreciated.
