Areas Lizzie's Pets serves

Lizzie's Pets is located in Middle Tennessee, just outside of Nashville. We adopt in the MidTN area. Occasionally we will consider an out of area adoption but a home visit by a local rescue group member, a vet reference, and other references are required. Also, the family will pay any transportation costs in addition to a nominal adoption fee.

Additional adoption info

Fees vary for each dog. Overall, we try to be sure that the adoption fee covers our expenses in the dog. We will have the dog fully vetted before adoption. That means: Spay/Neuter, Heartworm tested, Temperament tested, Rabies, Distemper/Parvo, Bordatella (kennel cough vaccine) Dewormed. They will already be on Heartgard and Frontline Plus protections. In some cases, the dogs will already be microchipped. If not chipped already (we really urge this!), then we can have it done for a nominal additional fee. In general, this means that you will only have to take your dog to your vet for a general health checkup and to start your monthly Heartgard and Frontline applications.

We cannot guarantee the health of our dogs since most of them are strays from local animal controls and we know nothing of their past. However, we will share with you everyting we do know about the dog you are interested in. We also have a fully refundable fee for the first month, less a small application fee. Even after the first month, we will always take the dog back if for some reason you can no longer care for it. In fact, our contract requires you to return the dog to us. That way, we can be assured of finding it another permanent home.

We hope you enjoy looking at our dogs. If you see one you like, let us know and we will send you an application. Please be patient. All our fosters hold down fulltime jobs and we try to answer inquiries at night. If we do not get to the next day, we will very soon! We promise!

About Lizzie's Pets

Lizzie's Pets is a small virtual shelter devoted to dogs in need of new homes. We do not have a physical location but we live and work in Franklin, Williamson County TN. We will meet potential families at a local home visit and will talk over the phone to be sure the pet they are interested in is a good match for them! If out of the MidTN area, we will consider adoption but we must have a local to that area rescue group do a home visit for us.

Support adoption and rescue. Why go to a dog breeder, cat breeder or pet store to buy a dog or buy a cat when you can adopt?

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life.

What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?

When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.

So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
