ARENAC COUNTY ANIMAL CONTROL
About Our Shelter
Animal Shelters across the United States are full with deserving animals in need of homes. If you are considering adding a new pet to your household be sure and check with your local animal shelter. A second place to visit is 1-800-save-a-pet.com!
Please note that most animals entering an animal shelter are strays and very little background information is known about them. The only thing we can tell you about the animal are the traits and characteristics we observe while taking care of them. We can not make guarantees on health, housebreaking and if these animals will be good with children. Please use common sense when bringing your new pet home. Allow it to acclimate to you and your family first before introducing it to other pets and people. Schedule a vet appointment and have the animal seen by your veterinarian as soon as possible. Should you adopt an animal and the adoption does not work out, we ask that you bring the animal back to the shelter. We care very much about the animals that come through the shelter and we don't want them dumped in another shelter or given away carelessly. You can receive a full adoption refund if the animal is returned. Please call the shelter if you have any additional questions.

Dog adoption and cat
adoption saves lives. Adopt
a dog or adopt a cat and you'll
have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting
a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats
for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?
When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs
and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of
dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed
is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten
breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.
So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat
or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt
a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane
society or pet rescue group.
