Cities, Towns, and/or Counties We Serve:

Most of our foster homes are located in Ohio. We do adopt to adjoining states. YOU must drive to where our foster dog is located to meet them and adopt them. Our foster families need to meet you and the dog and see if they bond with you and agree to adopt.

We need an application to contact you. You may email us with questions, and we try to answer within a few days, we are an all volunteer organization. We do our best to keep up. IF you have not heard from us within a week, please email us. Thank you for considering adopting/rescuing/saving a dog in need.

About Our Rescue Group:

Ron's Rescued Rascals Inc started out reforming the Trumbull Co Dog Pound, one of the worst in Ohio. Finally after 3 years the local volunteers started to help, offering a PRE POUND PROGRAM to the Trumbull and other surrounding county residents by assisting them with vetting their pets and organizing adoptions rather than take them to the Trumbull Dog Pound.

We are an ethical pet rescue group with a small number of volunteers specializing in small breed hypo-allergenic dogs. If you would like to help save dogs, VOLUNTEERS are needed to work from home on the PC, drive our dogs to the vets, post our rescues on internet sites, and PET SIT/FOSTER for about 4 weeks while we find approved adopters for the pets. Without fosters we can't save dogs! These dogs are homeless until adopted. Donations welcome to pay pal ronsrescued@aol.com and supply donations welcomed and needed!

We also rescue puppy mill dogs, adults and puppies. Plus we have a foster to adopt program.

Come Meet our Pets:

Adopting a rescued dog has several advantages. The adult dogs we offer have all had some socialization and training. Unlike puppies they can fit into your life more easily and have a longer attention span and can learn quickly. IF you choose a younger dog, you'll enjoy all the vibrancy and bouncy qualities of a youthful animal and never ending energy. Should you find space in your heart for an adult animal, you'll enjoy the quieter, more affectionate part of that dogs life that will still play but entertain itself some. Adult dogs still go on walks with you, still like to play and snuggle and are calmer. They are well rounded and make good pets for people who work or have too busy of a life to take care of puppy needs.

We are a group of compassionate volunteers who help save pets that are unwanted, abandoned, homeless, victims of divorce, owner death, economy, relocation, etc. These poor loving animals lost their homes thru no fault of their own. Most shelters can only hold dogs 3 days; then they dispose of them. Rescues with foster homes voluntarily take them in and care for them while looking for a good match in personalities with adoptive families. We do not kennel our dogs, they are lovingly cared for and evaluated in our foster homes. We get their health check ups, train them and work with them to be highly adoptable.

VOLUNTEERS: When you volunteer with us, we supply all items you will need and we pay all the vet cost involved. You just need a warm heart and love to help save a dog. We must have your approved application to contact you and to meet our rescued dogs at our foster homes.
DONATIONS: If you have any gently used dog items, or unopened flea/tick & heartworm preventions, please help us by donating them to save the strays and dogs in danger of going to the county dog pounds. PAYPAL: ronsrescued@aol.com

Our Adoption Process:

There is no perfect dog but we do have dogs that, with love and patience, can become the perfect dog for you. Rescue dogs have unknown histories so we assess each dog's reaction to other dogs, cats, men, women and children, if available. We also work on potty training and other behaviors that the dog may need to learn. As we evaluate the dog, we develop some specific criteria based on input from the foster families. We then try to match the dog with an appropriate adoptive family. While a certain dog might appeal to you based on breed, size, gender or appearance, your family may not match the dog's criteria. We are not trying to make adoption difficult; we are trying to make each adoption a lifelong success. We want you to be happy with the dog you adopt and we want the dog to be happy with his new family.

Please also check your local shelters. We want you to rescue any dog that needs saved.
Please don't buy from pet stores. Doing so only supports the puppy mill industry.

Please do not apply if you are not ready to adopt within 3 weeks. We are an all-volunteer organization. Our dogs go quickly and we cannot hold dogs for any length of time.
choose a dog from our list of available dogs
complete an on line application or write us for an email copy & submit it.
we will send you an email within 24 hours confirming we have received your application.
our volunteers will review your application along with the dog's criteria
we will contact your vet, groomer and/or personal references to verify your information
we will contact you to discuss the chosen dog or make suggestions of other dogs you may want to consider.....we keep your application on file for a year.
within 7 working days of receipt of your application, our processor will call to chat with you to explain the next steps, answer any questions, and refer your application to the foster family.
when you match/chose a dog, we will have that foster family call you to give you detailed specifics of that dog.
should you both agree you would like to meet this dog for possible adoption, you and the foster parent can arrange a time for you to meet the dog. We ask that you come within 2 weekends of being notified you are approved. We cannot hold dogs for any length of time as other dogs are being disposed of while rescue/foster space is unavailable,
we may choose to do a home visit: we will make an appointment to come meet you and your family at your home to evaluate if the dog will fit in your lifestyle.
your appointment with the dog is your final approval, if you and the dog like each other, you may take the dog home with you that day. If you decide you want to adopt the dog, but cannot immediately take him with you, then we require that you leave a deposit to hold the dog for a limited time to return to pick it up shortly.
we know there is an adjustment time for dog and adopter, so we provide follow-up advice thru the transition period. We highly recommend you take advantage of this service and review all the information we provide in the adoption packet.

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a dog or puppy versus getting dogs for sale or puppies for sale from a dog breeder? When someone is breeding puppies, they are creating new dogs who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog or puppy and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale from a puppy breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs who must find homes. So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog or adopt a puppy at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
