Pets at Our Rescue Group:

Cities, Towns, and/or Counties We Serve:

Our Humane Society serves Coleman County in West Central Texas. This includes the towns of Coleman, Santa Anna, Valera, Talpa, Novice, Winters, Ballinger and several even smaller farm communities. We are about 3 to 3-1/2 hours from DFW, Austin and San Antonio.

We work closely with Brownwood, Rising Star, San Angelo, and Abilene rescue groups

About Our Rescue Group:

Our Humane Society formed in 2003 and received a 501(c)(3) determination in 2004. Our primary mission is to provide discounted spay/neuter vouchers to low income families in our county.

We have a no-kill shelter, and we try to rescue as many adoptable dogs as we can from local kill shelters.

Come Meet our Pets:

We show all our dogs by appointment. We are available pretty much 24/7 as long as we know you are coming to see us. We try to arrange transport or meet adopting families in a convenient location when necessary.

We have a thrift store located at 108 East Pecan full of bargains that are donated to us to support our discounted spay/neuter program. The store is open Thursday-Saturday.

We also sponsor a 3rd weekend in April county-wide garage sale and adoption event.

Our Adoption Process:

HSCC does not use a formal adoption application process. We ask that you tell us, by email, in your own words why you want one of our dogs and the home enviornment you will have for the dog, such as, house/apartment, yard, fencing, family/children(ages), other pets, who will be primarily responsible for care, etc.

We do not adopt dogs under 10 months old to apartments. We normally do not adopt to singles under age 21, but exceptions are sometimes made, depending on the circumstances.

Our fee varies, but is typically $65 for mixed breeds and $85 for purebreds. The fee covers spay/neuter, rabies, wormer, 6/1 DHLLP, de-flea treatment as needed, collar and lots of spoiling of your dog.

We do have an Adoption Agreement for adopting families.

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder? When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes. So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
