Pets at Our Rescue Group:

Cities, Towns, and/or Counties We Serve:

Located in The Dalles Oregon on the Washington border. We serve Klickitat, Sherman, Wasco and Hood River Co. offering a feral spay and neuter program, shelter and adoption when resources allow.

About Our Rescue Group:

Catlink is a private shelter which evolved in 1998 for placing recently abandoned and young kittens found while running the only feral spay and neuter clinic in the Columbia River Gorge. We strive to maintain a family living situation for all cats and we regularly introduce dogs and young adults to the population to lessen the stress of transitioning into a new environment when they leave us to their forever home. Many times in the spring the demand is so huge that we fill all our foster homes and end up turning far to many back out to colonies with a caregiver, not the family they need and deserve.
We run entirely on volunteers NO PAID wages. NO INTAKE FEES, we help people place pets when we can but work with abandoned and ferals except on rare occasions. YES as far as I know we are the only ones who pick up sick or injured cats. Animal control doesn't, and to our knowledge they stay in the ditch until some kind person takes responsibility or someone contacts us.
Our euthanasia policy is that a cat must be deemed by a licensed veterinarian to be fatally ill or fatally injured.

Tax deductible donations can be made to Rowena Wildlife Clinic marked "for the cats" which graciously orders our medical supplies such as vaccines, tests, wormers, etc.

Come Meet our Pets:

We are located at 1812 Mt. Hood Street in The Dalles Oregon.
We show cats by appointment any day except Saturdays when we are open for drop in visits from 10AM to 4PM.

Our Adoption Process:

* Adopters must be 18 years old or older.
* Verification adopter is allowed to have a pet if renting or living in multiple family housing is required.
* We do not adopt cats solely as "mousers".
* We do not adopt cats to second parties or as gifts.
* We ask for a $30 donation to help offset our cost.
* All adopters must have completed an application, signed an adoption agreement and have their new companion secured in a safe travel carrier before leaving the shelter.

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a cat or kitten versus getting cats for sale or kittens for sale from a cat breeder? When someone is breeding kittens, they are creating new cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of cat or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a cat for sale from a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with cats who must find homes. So rather than buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a cat or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
