Cities, Towns, and/or Counties We Serve:

We are the municiple animal welfare division of the City of Purcell. We only take in animals from our own city limits. City of Lexington brings their stray animals to our facility.

About Our Shelter:

We are the City of Purcell Animal Welfare Division. We are a municiple animal shelter that serves the city of limits of Purcell in taking in stray animals or animals citizens can no longer care for. We have fought long and hard to adopt more animals and euthanize less and are finally making a little headway. We moved out of the old delapitated shelter in June 2008 and now are in a brand new facility that is much better for everyone involved. Our local PAS group helped make this dream a reality as well as people in the community that donated the land it sits on as well as others that volunteered their company's expertise to help get the doors open. We are trying to make a difference one animal at a time.

Come Meet our Pets:

We are located at our new shelter at 1201 Adams St. in Purcell.

The hours at the shelter are from 10:00-3:00 Monday thru Friday with Saturday's by appointment only.

Our number is 405-527-0222 and if nobody answers we are probably busy in the back so you are urged to leave a message and we will return your call as soon as we are able.

Our Adoption Process:

$60.00 for adoption of cats/kittens
$65.00 for adoption of puppies/dogs
All animals adopted from this shelter will be spayed or neutered before leaving the premesis. All dogs will be HW negative according to age and all cats will be FIV/FELV negative to be eligible for adoption. The new policy is as follows: If you find an animal you would like to adopt, come by and meet them. If this is the animal for you we need you to leave a deposit of $30.00 to hold the animal in your name while we have it completley vetted and altered.

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder? When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes. So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
