Greyhounds As Companions, Inc.
About Our Rescue Group
We are a small 501C3 organization, formed to rescue and find permanent homes for retired racing greyhounds. Thousands of these wonderful dogs are retired from racing every year and need to be taken from the race industry and find new homes. We are in existence since 1994, and have IRS tax exempt status. We do not have an adoption kennel, all adoptable greyhounds reside in foster homes awaiting adoption. They can be seen at our events, or by private appointment with foster homes.
Come Meet our Pets
Various special events and monthly meet & greets throughout the year, all posted in our web site www.greyhoundsascompanions.com
Our Adoption Process
Our adoption fee is currently $235. We require completely fenced in yards, and children to be OVER the age of 8. If applicant currently or formerly owned a pet, we ask permission to speak with their vet(s). We require a pre-adoption application be mailed to us. The application can be printed from our web site www.greyhoundsascompanions.com If an adoption is completed, the application will be attached to and become a part of the final adoption agreement We do 2 week or longer trial periods, during which time we retain ownership of the greyhound. Adoption is formalized with the signing of our Greyhound Placement Agreement. Greyhound(s) must be returned if unable to keep, AND can be reclaimed without legal proceeding if any term/condition of the Greyhound Placement are deemed violated by us.
Dog adoption and cat
adoption saves lives. Adopt
a dog or adopt a cat and
you'll have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a dog
or puppy versus getting dogs for sale or puppies for sale from a dog breeder?
When someone is breeding puppies, they are creating new dogs who need homes.
Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog or puppy and they
think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale from
a puppy breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs who must find homes.
So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder, we encourage
people to adopt a dog or adopt a puppy at their local animal shelter, SPCA,
humane society or pet rescue group.
