Cities, Towns, and/or Counties We Serve:

West TN Animal Rescue is an all volunteer, 501C3 organization serving West TN. We do not have a shelter. We have a network of foster homes that keep each adoptable pet in their home until they are adopted. Because there is a huge pet over-population problem here in the south, most of our adoptions are to the Northeast. Peterson Express Transport Service (PETS) of Animal Planet's "Last Chance Highway" is the company we use to transport our foster dogs to their new forever homes.

About Our Rescue Group:

West TN Animal Rescue is a non-profit, 501c3, all volunteer agency chartered by the State of TN. We take in pets that are unwanted, abandoned, abused, neglected, homeless or otherwise in need. We also started a low-cost spay neuter program a few years ago to help those who wish to have a pet altered but can't afford it. We are not a shelter. Each of our pets is in a home with a volunteer foster parent and only leaves the foster home to go to their "forever" home once they are fully vetted. Our goal is to reduce the pet overpopulation problem through spay/neuter, adoption and education.

Come Meet our Pets:

All of the pets we have for adoption can be viewed on our web site, www.westtnanimalrescue.org

We also have adoption events at the Petsmart in Jackson TN on most Saturdays.

Other events are scheduled throughout the year.

Once approved, a face to face meeting or phone meeting is set up so potential adopters can ask any questions they have about the pet they are interested in.

Our Adoption Process:

To adopt a pet from WTAR you must be at least 18 and submit an adoption application online @ http://wtar.rescueadmin.net/adoption_app.php
We contact references listed on your application. If you rent or live with another person, we must speak to your landlord or roomate to confirm that you have permission to have the pet you are applying for. We may also need to conduct a home visit to make sure the accommodations for the pet you are interested in are suitable. We do not allow any adopted pets to live on chains or any other tethering devices. Once approved you must complete an online contract and pay the adoption fee. The TN adoption fee is $100 for dogs and $80 for cats. The out of state fee for dogs is $175. There is also a transport charge that is $150 and is payable to the transport company when you receive your pet or you can pay the total fee to us and we can pay the transport company. We use Peterson Express Transport Service (PETS) of "Last Chance Highway" fame seen on Animal Planet.

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder? When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes. So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
