About Our Rescue Group:

Purrfect Pets is a nonprofit humane cat rescue and adoption agency, dedicated to helping orphaned cats throughout the greater Kansas City area. We rescue hundreds of cats every year from shelters and the general public.

Elaine K. Doran, a life-long animal advocate, founded Purrfect Pets in 2003. Her belief is every cat has the right to a caring, safe and permanent home. Cats are placed into foster homes and go to the adoption center located at Metcalf South Shopping Center. Here, people can visit with the cats in a bright, fun and upbeat environment. Several get acquainted rooms are available so one can get to know that special friend.

Our Adoption Process:

First, an application needs to be filled out and approved. All family members must meet the cat before adoption. A contract is signed upon approval and adoption. Fees range from $90-$200 depending on the pet, usually $120.

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a cat or kitten versus getting cats for sale or kittens for sale from a cat breeder? When someone is breeding kittens, they are creating new cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of cat or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a cat for sale from a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with cats who must find homes. So rather than buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a cat or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
