About Our Rescue Group
The BC Standardbred Horse Adoption Society was founded in 2003, to date we have placed over 250 retired Standardbred Racehorses into pleasure homes. We are not a horse rescue, we are the trainers, grooms, drivers, owners, breeders, adoptors, racetrack operator and caretakers of these racehorses, that is who founded the program and the reason we founded Greener Pastures was to take care of the horses that enable us to earn our livelihoods, because we care about them.

Our Adoption Process
We re-train and re-home retired Standardbred Racehorses into pleasure homes. As such, we do have an adoption process, starting with an adoption application which includes references, then a meeting with the program co-ordinator and the horse, followed by the actual adoption which includes a nominal fee and the signing of an adoption agreement outlining the care expected and the responsibilities of the adoptor.
