About Our Rescue Group
We are the Barnesville/Lamar County Humane Society, Inc. We rescue and foster pets. We also spay/neuter the pets before they go to a forever home. We help elderly and indigent people who already have a cat or dog to have them spayed/neutered. We feel as if the only way we can help save lives in our city and county is to spay/neuter. We average 200 - 300 spays/neuters a year. We transport others pets to our vet (40 miles one way) for a spay/neuter clinic since most work and cannot take time to go to the vet. We love animals.
Come Meet our Pets
Our Humane Society is on Face Page as the Barnesville/Lamar County Humane Society. We have some of our dogs and cats shown on this page. We also are listed on our web site at www.blchs.org If you are interested seeing one of our pets, please call 770-358-4569 and leave a message or email us at blchumanesoc@bellsouth.net
Our Adoption Process
Our fees are $75.00 for cats/kittens and $100.00 for dogs/puppies. We require you to sign an adoption agreement with our rules and regulations - particularly no declawing of cats and no dogs tied outside. We want to see how you interact with the pet. We also require three references - one has to be a vet, the other two can be friends. Also, if we do not know you, we do not take personal checks. You would need to bring a cashier's check.
Dog adoption and cat
adoption saves lives. Adopt
a dog or adopt a cat and you'll
have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting
a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats
for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?
When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs
and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of
dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed
is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten
breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.
So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat
or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt
a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane
society or pet rescue group.
