Berks County and surrounding counties

About Our Rescue Group:

My name is Andrea Kurzweg. I'm 26 years old. I work at the Humane Society of Berks County as an adoption counselor. I got my first chin when I was in college and have been in love with them ever since.

Come Meet our Pets:

It is by appointment only and the chins are kept at my house. The applicant must be approved before they can come to my house and meet one of the chinchillas

Our Adoption Process:

First the application must be completed and approved, the applicant must also have a vet consent form signed. In some cases a home visit is required. The applicant must have all the supplies before adopting the chinchilla. The adoption fee ranges depending on age/health of the animal and starts at $75. A contract must be signed at the end of the process.

Our Adopted Pets:

We have helped lots of pets connect with loving and caring owners. Check out our adopted pets list!

Why should you adopt?

small animals can make wonderful pets, and rather than buying a small animal for sale or finding a small animal breeder, adopting a small animal from an animal shelter or rescue organization is the perfect way to add a small animal to your family. Keep in mind, there is a lot you will need to know when you provide a home for a small animal. You will need to learn what to feed them, how much exercise or attention your small animal needs, and many other important things about how to house and care for a small animal. There are different types of small animals including Chinchilla, Degu, Ferret, Gerbil, Guinea Pig, Hamster, Hedgehog, Mouse, Prairie Dog, Rat, Skunk, and Sugar Glider.
