AW Paws Rescue
About Our Rescue Group
We have been animal lovers all our lives. In a desire to help make a difference in the lives of abandoned animals, by taking in many strays on their own, nursing them back to health and finding homes for them, sometimes in our own families. This desire also led them to volunteer to foster for Donna’s Chihuahua Rescue. While fostering for her rescue several times we received calls about breeds other than Chihuahua’s. We hated turning them away. We did sneak in a Poodle, Pomeranian, Beagle, and many questionable Chihuahua mixes. So we decided to continue to work with her but make it possible to help the other breeds also. So that is when Aw Paws Rescue was formed. Because the rescue at this time consist of just the two of us and we both currently have small dogs, we have decided that we need to stay 25 pounds & under.

Our organization consists of foster homes only. All foster dogs are part of our family and we take an incredible amount of time getting to know their needs and desires. We believe that knowing our fosters helps us meet the needs of both the dog and his/her forever family. We would like to have all dogs current on vaccinations, heartworm tested & spayed/neutered before leaving our rescue.

We would also like to assist in:
Promoting Spaying/Neutering. Litter Prevention
Promoting Microchip Use & Awareness
Promoting Adopting from Rescue’s not Breeders/Puppy Mills
Supporting Puppy Mill Legislation
Giving homeless animals a second chance for a good life

Come Meet our Pets
We are located on the South Side of Indianapolis, near the Greenwood Mall and have another location in Beech Grove. We are an "in home" rescue, so all our babies live in our homes so we have no set hours, we go by appointments only.
Our Adoption Process
Our fee is $180 total, which includes spay/neuter, all shots and dental if needed.

Our procedures:
1. set up a meet and greet appointment.
2. complete adoption application
3. if the animal you came to see is the one for you, then we ask that you leave a $20.00 deposit to hold the animal for you.
4. We check out all your references and home
5. We contact you to complete the adoption process and pay the remaining adoption fee of $160.00

Then you take your baby to his or her new forever loving home. : )

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a dog or puppy versus getting dogs for sale or puppies for sale from a dog breeder? When someone is breeding puppies, they are creating new dogs who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog or puppy and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale from a puppy breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs who must find homes. So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog or adopt a puppy at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
