Paws and Claws Humane Society is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization committed to helping the homeless animals in Artesia, NM and finding them homes and rescue! Paws and Claws works tirelessly to try and save the more than 1600 dogs and cats that enter Artesia Animal Control each year! Paws and Claws is also very committed to ending the cycle of homeless pets by helping area residents spay and neuter their pets! On the 1st Sat of each month, Paws and Claws gives out about 15 vouchers for spay and neuters at Second Chances Thrift Store located at 401 Quay St., Artesia, NM. its first come, first serve so come early! Paws and Claws has lots of wonderful dogs and cats in all shapes and sizes in DESPERATE need of foster homes! Please consider opening your home today, sometimes all these animals need is just a little time to find a forever home or get another rescue to take them in...finding a foster is literally life or death! Please consider volunteering today! Paws and Claws also is in great need of help transporting animals to other rescues! Since Artesia is such a small place, most of the animals it rescues are transferred to other rescues around the states of NM, TX and CO. Please consider volunteering to help transport! Second Chances Thrift Store is now open and needs volunteers! Help is needed to sort through donated items, clean, dust and care for the store! Please consider volunteering today! Paws and Claws is continuing to work on buliding their very own shelter! Donations are needed to make this a reality so please consider helping today!
We are in DESPERATE NEED OF KITTEN FOSTERS!! Please contact us asap if you can help with the many kittens that fill the shelter - some need to be bottle fed and other just need a safe place to stay for a little while until they can be adopted! We have LOTS of adoptable cats, kittens, dogs and puppies that end up in the shelter everyday and many adoptable animals, pure breds and all shapes and sizes! Come visit us today for your next pet and save a life!

Additional adoption info

Our adoption fee is $65.00 per the city for dogs and cats which is for their shots, worming and microchip. You will be responsible for the cost of the spay/neuter and rabies. We can often help find low cost spay/neuter places in your area and will help as much as we can. Please email us today for more information on adopting a pet!
