Our Adoption Process:

All cats and kittens are vetted on a regular basis. Each individual cat/kitten is tested for the FIV/FeLV viruses. Any and all illnesses and injuries that are present are addressed and treated. As part of our adoption protocol, all adoptable cats and kittens have fecal samples tested, and prophylactic dewormers administered. They are kept up to date with all age appropriate vaccinations, and are microchipped prior to being adopted out.

To start the adoption process, an adoption application form can be requested via e-mail (, phone call (201-368-0607), or by visiting us at the Maywood Veterinary Clinic. It can take up to a few days to fully process each individual application form. If application accepted, a visit can be scheduled to meet the cat/kitten of choice. Final decisions are made after the visit. The adoption fee is $118.00. This fee does include the spay/neuter of the cat/kitten. If old enough to do so, cat/kitten will be spayed or neutered prior to leaving the clinic. If not of age, kitten can be brought back at a later time to have procedure done.

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a cat or kitten versus getting cats for sale or kittens for sale from a cat breeder? When someone is breeding kittens, they are creating new cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of cat or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a cat for sale from a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with cats who must find homes. So rather than buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a cat or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
