About Our Shelter:

We take in all of the stray dogs from Geauga County, Ohio. We are a county agency. The Geauga County Dog Shelter is not funded from the general tax fund. We have 3 full time employees, one part time employee and a group of volunteers that walk our dogs. We are always looking for more help. This is a financially poor shelter. We receive $8.50 if someone buys a dog tag. This is insufficient to care for the 700+ dogs that are picked up each year. Your donation makes a large difference in the care of the dogs. Food is always good. Please buy a dog tag for your dog, it helps your shelter and it helps us find you if your dog is lost.

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a dog or puppy versus getting dogs for sale or puppies for sale from a dog breeder? When someone is breeding puppies, they are creating new dogs who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog or puppy and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale from a puppy breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs who must find homes. So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog or adopt a puppy at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.

Humane America Animal Foundation, dba Adopt-a-Pet.com, is a non-profit, tax-deductible 501(c)(3) adoption advertising charity. Our mission (and passion) is to help get homeless pets out of the shelters and into loving homes. Let us know what you think! Suggestion & Comment Box
