Laguna Woods Cat Club Foster/Adoption Program
About Our Rescue Group
Our organization was started because our local animal shelter does not have space for abandoned and/or lost pets. Laguna Woods is a retirement community and our residents often end up going to assisted living or passing away, and kitties are left homeless. There was a real need for someone to step up and fill this need, so we established a network of foster homes and a website and a petfinder site to advertise our kitties needing homes. We provide an initial vet exam immediately and pay for services including medical care, shots, spay and neuter, etc.
Come Meet our Pets
We have boutiques twice a year, in late fall and early spring, to raise funds for our pets. We sometimes have some of our animals at those events. We also have posters with our kitties displayed around our community and we have both our www.lagunawoodscatclub.com site as well as our petfinder site with photos, discriptions and contact info.
Our Adoption Process
We ask for an adoption donation of at least $50. but will waive it for adopters that appear to be excellent potential pet parents. We have a two page information form and do a preliminary home visit. Our adopters must promise to keep the kitty as an indoor only pet and must agree to return the kitty to our organization if they can no longer care for it.
Dog adoption and cat
adoption saves lives. Adopt
a dog or adopt a cat and
you'll have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a cat
or kitten versus getting cats for sale or kittens for sale from a cat breeder?
When someone is breeding kittens, they are creating new cats who need homes.
Some people are interested in a very specific breed of cat or kitten and they
think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a cat for sale from
a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with cats who must find homes.
So rather than buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage
people to adopt a cat or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA,
humane society or pet rescue group.
