Areas Safe Haven serves
We are based in the Blakeslee / Effort area of NE PA. All of our dogs are in foster homes learning good manners! We house and crate train all dogs. Our dogs are fully vetted - appropriate for their age. We adopt healthy, happy dogs! We have saved over 700 to date. The first step is to read our adoption process and requirements. If you feel you meet requirements and are comfortable with our process then filling out the application. We check vet references and personal references from each application. All information collected must be positive. If references are all good and we feel you are a good match for one of our dogs and meet requirements, we will then contact you to set up to meet the dog.
We prefer to bring the dog to you in your home. When applicant is long distance we will need EXCELLENT vet references, photos of home and yard. We will try to get a rescue local to you to do a visit and we will need you to meet us to set up meeting.

Safe Haven is an all volunteer rescue group, We are relatively small but all of us have been in rescue for years. We are dedicated to saving as many adoptable dogs as we can. We usually have a variety of sizes and breeds available.

We have an alumni picnic every summer for our adopters and adoptees! We like to keep in touch and get updates from our adopters.

Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.
So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
