About Our Shelter:

Our shelter is small. The Friends of the Chautauqua County Animal Shelter, with the help of donations made by dog loving people throughout the US, have been able to vet the dogs at the shelter. We are a small town NO KILL Shelter.

There are only two people involved so we do not have adoption events. Visiting the shelter page or the shelter are the only options to seeing/meeting the dogs.

Our Adoption Process:

Contact Kelsey Loyd between the hours of 8:30 - 12:30 AM, Monday - Friday. 620-725-3561. OR contact "The Chautauqua County Animal Shelter-Sedan, Kansas" on Facebook by leaving a message.
All dogs are spayed/neutered. UTD on vaccines (parvo, distepmer, rabies) heart worm tested. If positive, the dog will not be available for adoption for four months. (two months prevention. Third month given a treatment. Fourth month two treatments). The dogs are given monthly heart worm prevention of Vetrimec and Bravecto for fleas and ticks.
$100.00 adoption fee. $105.00 Sedan resident(paying for city tag)

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a dog or puppy versus getting dogs for sale or puppies for sale from a dog breeder? When someone is breeding puppies, they are creating new dogs who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog or puppy and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale from a puppy breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs who must find homes. So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog or adopt a puppy at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
