We do state adoptions within the Tri-State area, however do not turn away out of area if an excellent home is waiting.. I WILL respond to all phone requests within a 24 hour period or as quickly as possible. I don't believe that adopting a dog should be harder than adopting a child, which is the most common complaint I hear. I want to make a match that lasts a lifetime and works for both of you. There is nothing more special than the bond between a dog and it's owner, for a dog loves unconditionally.

About Our Rescue Group:

We rescue animals out of high kill shelters in NYC and the poorest neighborhoods of Mexico and Los Angeles. Our primary focus are small (under 20 lbs) dogs, many are Chihuahua/mixes, Maltese/mixes, Poodle/mixes, Shitzu/mixes, Lhasa Apso/mixes and Terrier Types, along with the rare Pit Bull saved in the 11th hour. It is our way of giving back by saving lives, rehabilitating medical needs and re-homing. We also are trying to stop Pet Stores sales of puppy mill pups, which may carry many genetic defeats as well as being unhealthy, these sales promote cruelty and abuse for the parents who are used strictly as breeding "machines" with no regard for their health and well being. Come Meet our Pets:

As we are a volunteer organization, please respect the time taken out of my life for these animals. after approval of an adoption application you are welcome to make an appointment to visit the dog you are interested in adopting. please be prompt and give the courtesy of a call if you are going to be late. Dogs may be seen at Petco, Mahwah, NJ on select dates and at various adoption events.

Our Adoption Process:

If you see an animal you are interested in, please email and request an adoption application, put in the name(s) of the animals interested in, on the application. Precious Petz requires a pre-adoption form to be filled out which then becomes a part of the adoption contract upon deciding the adoption is a mutual match. References/vet will be checked and a home visit if needed. I like to give tips on how to best puppy proof, especially if you have never had a puppy before. Fees range from $150 - $400 depending on animal and age.

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a dog or puppy versus getting dogs for sale or puppies for sale from a dog breeder? When someone is breeding puppies, they are creating new dogs who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog or puppy and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale from a puppy breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs who must find homes. So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog or adopt a puppy at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
