Greyhound Advancement Center's adoption process

Additional adoption info

The Greyhound Advancement Center (GAC) works closely with greyhound adoption groups to find loving and qualified homes for the Greyhounds and enhance the adoption process through our value added programs. GAC allows greyhound adoption groups to sponsor dogs being placed in obedience training programs (prison, truancy, corporate, etc.) for adoption. We facilitate the placement of greyhounds through training and deliver obedience trained greyhounds to the community. As the inmate trainers develop experience, we will provide service dog training for specialized tasks. Some public access training may be provided through work release programs and/or volunteers in the community.
Provide a network of prison foster homes for greyhounds including temporary housing, when necessary. This may be beneficial during seasonal track closings, for greyhounds that have been returned, or just while waiting to find their forever home. Greyhound prison Boot Camp will allow greyhounds to refresh their skills. We welcome all greyhounds into boot camp, regardless of whether they have participated in obedience training programs in the past or not. This is an ideal option for greyhound owners when they are travelling and need to board their greyhound. Once the program is fully established, we will consider welcoming other breeds into Boot Camp.

About Greyhound Advancement Center

The Greyhound Advancement Center will work hand-in-hand with greyhound tracks, farms, transport, adoption groups, etc. to ensure more effective placement into forever homes, while promoting a more positive image of greyhounds as companion, therapy and service dogs.

Through our work we will educate the public regarding the gentle nature, wonderful temperament, and intelligence of the Greyhound breed.

Adopt a Pet is the easiest way for you to search for a new pet in San Antonio, FL.

Support adoption and rescue. Why go to a dog breeder, cat breeder or pet store to buy a dog or buy a cat when you can adopt?

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life.

What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?

When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.

So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
