Areas Purrs, Paws, and Claws - Springfield Chapter serves
We adopt our dogs and cats into homes that can provide for them. The dogs and cats brought into our rescue are mostly taken from high kill shelter. Many have had a very rough start in life. We take them in, treat them for injuries and health issues if needed and then find wonderful homes for them.

Additional adoption info
We always have our adopters fill out an application for adoption. Just because you fill out an application do not mean you will be able to adopt from Purrs, Paws, and Claws. We try very hard to work with any one that is wanting to adopt from our group. If we see an issue we will talk with you about it and make sure you understand any issue. We want good, forever homes for our animals. There are adoption fees on all our animals as well. All adoption fees go back into the rescue to help with pulling fees, medical costs, food, bedding, cleaning supplies, and many others things needed to keep our doors open.

About Purrs, Paws, and Claws - Springfield Chapter
We started Purrs, Paws, and Claws in 2005. We saw to many animals being put to sleep because of shelter overcrowding. We started rescueing cats and now work with farm animals and dogs mostly. We feel that we make a difference for each animal that passes through our doors. Seeing the difference if make for each of them is very rewarding. I enjoy adopting out our dogs and meeting each family. I love seeing the smiles on the faces when they meet their new family member for the first time. We have made many friends along the way and get many updated pictures of animals that we have placed. This is what keeps us going. Rescue is not always a happy thing. We shed tears all the time for the little ones that have been pushed just to far and that have given up. We show them as much love as we can until the end. As least they can leave this world knowing that they had someone that really did care for them. It's also because of these babies that we will always do what we can to make a difference for as many as we can.

Find a pet to adopt
Adopt a Pet is the easiest way for you to search for a new pet in Springfield, VA.
Support adoption and rescue. Why go to a dog breeder, cat breeder or pet store to buy a dog or buy a cat when you can adopt?
Why should you adopt?
Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life.
What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?
When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.
So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
