Pets at Our Shelter:

Cities, Towns, and/or Counties We Serve:

We serve all of Marion County.

About Our Shelter:

Marion County Animal Services is our community's only open-admissions shelter. We provide adoption, fostering opportunities, work with rescues, accept volunteers and provide the training to future veterinarians and veterinary assisting students. In addition, we run the Neuter Commuter and provide all animal control services in Marion County.
Because we are an open-admissions shelter, we need the most help from our community in our effort to adopt out more and save more!
We don't only accept the ideal animals into our shelter. We can't pick and choose what comes in, but we can offer you quite the array of animal breeds and personalites! Keep an open mind when visiting our shelter- you may find that your perfect match is not at all what you set out to find.
We're here to help you as well as our homeless and lovable animals.

Come Meet our Pets:

You are invited to meet our pets anytime during our business hours. We also have cats available at the Lady Lake PetSmart Adoption Center everyday. We always particpate at the PetSmart Charities National Adoption events in Lady Lake.
We regularly attend adoption events which we advertise on our Facebook page.

Our Adoption Process:

Our adoption fees are only $40. If you adopt a second animal of the same species we will reduce the second fee to $20. We also ask that you pay for the national microchip registration fee of $10 for each animal, although it is not required.
Our requirements are simple and you can find them here:

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder? When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes. So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
