Mid-Ohio Animal Welfare League's adoption process
Additional adoption info
We require an adoption application before we can consider a family for adoption. Our cat adoption fee is $75, which helps offset the vet care - sterilization, vaccines, deworming, FIV/Leukemia-testing & microchip. Our dog adoption fee is $175 and covers the sterilization, vaccines, deworming heartworm test (if age appropriate), and microchip.
A home visit and references will be performed. We are volunteers, so it could take 24 hours to return any email inquiry.

About Mid-Ohio Animal Welfare League
Created in 2005, we are a non-profit volunteer-operated animal advocacy organization originally based in Mansfield, OH. Our director lives in the Cleveland-area. When able, we foster companions in our home. We believe all animals should be treated with compassion & respect. We advocate a vegan lifestyle.
Our mission is to protect and promote value and respect for all animals. We act as a voice for the voiceless creatures through advocacy and community education. Our main purpose is to provide affordable spay/neuter services to our community with the assistance of Rascal Unit neutermobile.
When able, we accept animals into our foster home-based rescue. Animals that enter our rescue are kept for as long as it takes to find forever homes - which can be a matter of a week to many months. We primarily pull from high-kill pounds/shelters. MAWL is an advocate of feral and stray cats and offers TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) services to Richland County as able.
As a recognized 501(c)3 non-profit organization, your donations are tax-deductible. We operate solely on donations, so please consider supporting our efforts.

Support adoption and rescue. Why go to a dog breeder, cat breeder or pet store to buy a dog or buy a cat when you can adopt?
Why should you adopt?
Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life.
What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?
When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.
So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
