Our Adoption Process:

Please note that we don't want the pets we adopt to be chained or housed outside 24/7. Your pet will become part of you family and much happier if they can spend most of their time as a family member and not outside. Any cats that are adopted are to be inside pets only. You must have your pet spayed or neutered within agreed upon time frame of your adoption date, providing the pet is old enough; should you adopt a puppy or kitten, you will have until we estimate them to be 6 months of age.
At anytime, should you need to get rid of your pet, for whatever reason, you must return them to our Shelter for re-adoption.

Fees:

paw Dogs - $70.00 Adoption Fee plus Dog License

paw Cats - $40.00 Adoption Fee

paw Crawford County Dog License - $16.00 yearly
(Yearly tags due by last day of February, after that date the price
is then $32.00)
(Newly adopted dogs are only $16.00 no matter what month.)

***You must have the license tags for your dog within 30 days of getting it or by the time it's 3 months old!***

Dog licenses may be purchased at the Humane Society by any County resident for the dogs that they own.

If you are adopting an animal from the Humane Society this fee is in addition to your adoption fee.

Adopters will receive certificates to help with the mandatory spaying/neutering of your new pet.

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder? When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes. So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
