Pets at Our Rescue Group:
Cities, Towns, and/or Counties We Serve:
Washington, DC metro area and beyond! Our fosters are located in Washington, DC, northern Virginia, and Maryland, but we will adopt pets up the east coast on a case by case basis (where we have a volunteer to conduct a home visit). We want the best homes for our pets, even if they're not in DC!
Each year, six to eight million dogs will end up at an animal shelter in the United States. Of those, approximately four million animals are euthanized.
Adopting a Capitol Canine is just one way to help combat this problem. Just by opening your home to one of our dogs, you are saving a life. In the process, you are gaining a companion who will reward you with love and gratitude.
Capitol Canines Animal Rescue saves dogs of various breeds, sizes, ages, and personalities. Please fill out an adoption application and our adoption team will ensure that you are matched with the perfect pup!

Our Adoption Process:
Application -- questionnaire, reference checks, vet reference check, thorough vetting of application
Adoption Contract is required. Additionally, a foster contract is required before a volunteer may foster an animal.
Our adoption fee is $350, which is commensurate with costs in the DC area. Our dogs all receive: vet exam, s/n, microchip, DHPP, bordatella, rabies vaccs, fecal exam, hw test, deworming, additional services, as needed. The adoption fee covers these costs as well as any local boarding when fosters are full and the costs of transport.
