Additional adoption info

• Adoption Fees: Our adoption fees vary for each cat.

• Health & Wellness: All adult cats are vaccinated, spayed or neutered and in good health.

For those that are raised indoors, we do require that they continue to live indoors after adoption. Cats that have lived outdoors most of their lives, and are planned to continue living outside, must be adopted to homes that are not in heavily trafficked areas, preferably rural settings.

Special instructions apply for potential adopters with children under 10 years of age.

• Contracts & Agreements: An adoption application and contract agreement are required for all adoptions. A contract agreement to spay or neuter is additionally required for cats prior to 6 months of age.

Adoption application can be found here: goo.gl/pncSEL

• Financial Aid: We have optional financial assistance for spaying or neutering your cat for the following counties in Arkansas and Texas: Bowie, Cass, Little River and Miller.

Financial assistance is provided by Texarkana Animal League and covers one spay or neuter operation, age appropriate/required shots, an examination and a heartworm test for only $30. That is a wonderful deal!

About Stray Cat Alliance-Texarkana

Stray Cat Alliance - Texarkana is a fully volunteer based organization that works to improve the lives of stray and feral cats living in our community through the process of TNR (trap, neuter, return / relocate / rescue).

We strive to bring public awareness to the importance of outdoor cats while advocating responsible population control, further reducing the number of cats killed in the city animal shelter.

Primary efforts are to rescue, spay/neuter/vaccinate, vet and find good homes for homeless cats.

All of our cats are rescues. None of them are caged unless at an event. We keep our cats housed in loving foster homes or at our organization where each is allowed to develop his/her own personality, run, play and socialize with others.

Support adoption and rescue. Why go to a dog breeder, cat breeder or pet store to buy a dog or buy a cat when you can adopt?

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life.

What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?

When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.

So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
