It's a Dog's Life Rescue - MD Chapter's adoption process

Additional adoption info

The first step is to complete an adoption application, which can be found at www.itsadogsliferescuehuntersville.com.

Please note that due to time constraints we cannot set up a meet and greet with a pet without an adoption application being submitted.

To answer general questions you may have about the adoption process, please review the initial adoption guidelines below.

◾All adopters must be 18 years of age and live in a place where pets are allowed. We will ask for proof of landlord approval before processing the adoption application if you are currently in a lease.

◾There must be a safe, warm and dry indoor space for the dog to live. A home visit will be scheduled prior to approval of the adoption application to verify.

◾All dogs come with the vetting appropriate for their age. The adoption fee of $150 covers this level of vetting and the follow up vetting of spaying/neutering the pet and administering a rabies vaccination.

◾The adoption form must be filled out in its entirety and emailed to itsadogsliferescue1@gmail.com

◾Please note that submitting an adoption application does not guarantee that the pet of your choice will be available for adoption. We reserve the right to refuse any adoption to any person for any reason.

◾As this rescue is all volunteer based, it can take up to three business days to process your application. We appreciate your patience.

Most importantly - thank you for taking the time to learn about this rescue and the great pups that can become part of your family. Please don't hesitate to reach out and get involved!!

About It's a Dog's Life Rescue - MD Chapter

It's a Dog's Life Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, charitable, all volunteer, dog rescue organization. We are dedicated to rescuing dogs left homeless for whatever reason – dogs in public shelters where they are at high risk of euthanasia due to pet overpopulation, dogs given up by their owners because of difficult circumstances, and those in danger of abuse or neglect. We spay, neuter, and provide medical care, and foster dogs through our network of volunteers until we get them adopted into their forever homes. It's a Dog's Life Rescue does not have a shelter. We rely on the kindness and generosity of animal lovers like you who open their hearts and homes to help us take care of the animal orphans that desperately need our help. We strive to work with area shelters and other rescue and humane organizations to develop a network of supporters and volunteers in order to create a better world for homeless pets.

Support adoption and rescue. Why go to a dog breeder, cat breeder or pet store to buy a dog or buy a cat when you can adopt?

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life.

What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?

When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.

So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
