We are in Hillsborough, Hernando, Pinellas, and neighboring counties for adoptions. We also take owner surrenders mainly to help keep them from entering shelters. We mostly help with older medium to small dogs at this time. We try to help owners keep their animals if it is a case of needing food or vet care. We also take in small breed puppies.

About Ray Of Sunshine Rescue, Inc.

We are like minded individuals (all volunteers) who rescue animals from kill shelters, the general public, and other bad situations and re-home them in loving forever homes. We fully vet those animals in our care before they are adopted out to their new owners. We teach the public the importance of Spay/Neutering of animals to help stop over population and deaths of many innocent animals. We educate about the care and well being of animals. We also go to schools to teach children animal care and responsibility. Our blind cat Ray ( he goes to classrooms and events) will teach one of our mottos, "You don't have to be perfect to be Purrfect." We also microchip every animal in our care so they may find their way home should they become lost. We also provide transport of animals from kill shelters to no kill shelters so they have a chance at life and finding forever homes. Just from 2016 to 2017 we saved 3425 dogs\cats\puppies\kittens from kill shelters and transported them up north where they were all adopted. Heather Keeler does a wonderful job of organizing these projects. We also saved over 100 animals in the Tampa Bay area and rehomed them.

Adopt a Pet is the easiest way for you to search for a new pet in Tampa, FL.

Support adoption and rescue. Why go to a dog breeder, cat breeder or pet store to buy a dog or buy a cat when you can adopt?

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life.

What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?

When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.

So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
