Adoption Application emailed out and returned, them Reference checks are made and a Home Inspection check is made. If all goes well then a 14 day Trial with Deposit put down is arranged and calls or visits are made to check on progress of dog fitting in. Finally after the 14 days the Permanent Adoption Form is signed and remainder of adoption fee is paid, followed by the transfer of medical records, microchip transfer form, dog's toys, equipment, large bag of current food and discount voucher for classes or private sessions (depends on availability of training within dog's new home area).

About PrairieWind Border Collie Rescue

PrairieWind Border Collie Rescue is a small privately funded rescue started in 1988. It began due to the love of the Border Collie breed. All dogs taken in are placed in foster homes and evaluated for temperament and the best placement venue. A full medical exam is done on each dog and any shots, spay or neuter, microchip needed are done. Any behavioral issues noted are worked with if possible and follow up training is advised and a discount on classes or private behavioral sessions is provided if new home area has training available.

When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.

So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
