My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Wyatt is a 2 year old Black & White Border Collie/German Shepherd or Malinios mix. IF BCIN ever had a "Rescue Super Star", it would be Wyatt. Originally from the Santa Maria area, Wyatt came to us in October of 2013 with open wounds on his side and legs. When he first arrived, Wyatt was a very destructive, un-manageable dog. However, with the love, care and attention of our Medical Needs Foster Home, Wyatt has made a miraculous transformation and become a very affectionate, loving and well-mannered boy - leaving his 'Bad Boy' days behind him.

Wyatt is a submissive boy who loves the water, to play tug and is 'ball obsessed'. He is very 'soft' and requires a gentle hand with soft spoken correction. He likes both men and women and gets along well with other dogs of all types, never insisting on having his own way. Amazingly, Wyatt is also good with the cats in his current foster home; however, due to the herding drive of these breeds, we never recommend leaving any dog unsupervised with a cat without some precautions (crate the dog, or a safe place for the cat to go) Although Wyatt loves his ball, he never insists on having it. It is recommended Wyatt not be placed in a home with horses or livestock unless secure as he would chase the horses in his previous foster home.

Wyatt is crate trained happily eating his meals in his personal den; walks on a leash; is obedient and willing to please; and is housebroke, going to the door and barking to be let out. He will bark, spin and dance with excitement each time he gets to go outside to potty or play; first running the entire perimeter of the yard to make sure there are no 'monsters' and it is safe from lizards, birds and etc. and then locating his ball to play.

Wyatt is very affectionate, loving to be pet and climbing on your lap to snuggle. While he has a high energy level, he does have an off switch and is content to lay at your feet also. He is excellent with children, however, with his energy level, we recommend children over the age of 5 years as in his excitement, he may knock a younger child down.

Now that Wyatt has rehabilitated and dealt with the issues that led to his shelter incarceration, Wyatt is looking for a new occupation in the personal companion field where he can focus his expertise on accompanying the object of his affection and learning to become a 'bed-warmer extraordinaire".
