My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Greetings from Chicago English Bulldog Rescue (CEBR FOR SHORT). Don’t be fooled by our name, we cover a large Midwest territory. We are the longest standing Bully rescue around and the only 501c3 charitable bully rescue in town. Become a fan of CEBR on Facebook or join our Meetup Group. Look no further I am your MAN!

Why hello there! I’m Harley and I’m a 3.5 year old stud muffin! I have been struggling with demodex mange and my original owners were having trouble keeping up with the care that I needed. CEBR tried to help them so that I could stay in my home and they found me the best doctor to help with my skin. But my original family didn’t keep up with my care plan and after a couple appointments she just stopped taking me for the much needed skin care I needed. They never called CEBR back to ask for help….then, lo and behold, a few months later I ended up as a stray at animal control. I was a wreck at that point, my skin was a mess, I was swollen and in pain. But lucky for me CEBR got me out of there fast and immediately stepped in to get me on my way to health!

I have had a long few months of treatment but my demodex mange is almost gone (and no, it’s not contagious – don’t worry!). I also started training with my foster mom to help me with some manners that I might have been lacking (ahem ahem). And now I am now looking for my FINAL forever home!

Let me tell you a little bit about myself. I am 3.5 years old and I don’t mean to brag or anything but I am super athletic. I can run faster than the average bully, jump higher than one too, and I have a tall athletic build weighing in at a strapping 65lbs. To be quite honest I am the total bulldog package!

Since my mange is cleared up, my silky white fur is growing in lusciously, I look so good you’ll probably have a hard time keeping your hands off me! I do have a few other issues that I’m still working on though. I have food and seasonal allergies that also cause my skin to get a little itchy, but with the right food and hygiene I am as studly as ever! I also started training to help brush up on my manners. Since I am such an athlete I like to practice my jumping as much as possible, and I’m starting to learn with training when the right time for jumping is. Oh yeah and there is this thing called a “crate” that I am learning to spend time in without trying to break out. Ya see, I don’t really like to be isolated/crated I just want to be with you all the time. Like really ALL THE TIME! Even when you shower I will be in the bathroom with you, just running into the laundry room, yep, I’ll come too, leaving the house? Take me, take me, I want to come!!

There are so many great things about me I don’t know where to begin? I’ll start off by telling you what a great kisser I am! Seriously I give the most slippery best kisses ever, not one complaint yet! I am a perfect gentleman on walks, and love to go on multiple walks a day to get my exercise in to keep this athletic physique! I also love to run around in the yard, and when I tell you I am fast boy do I mean it! I can run laps in the yard nonstop! I love to play with other larger dogs, since I am such a hunk I don’t know my own strength and play best with bigger dogs. I also have the fiercest growl, and I like to use it often to let you know I would like to be petted, or if you are not showing me enough attention. But don’t worry my little tail wag will let you know I am just showing off my vocals and not being mean!

Every morning my foster mom and I work on training so I can be ready for my forever home. I really want to be perfect for my forever family! Someone is usually always home at my foster pad, and that really works out for me since I know they can’t get enough of me. I can usually handle crating for about 3 hours but anything longer and I will hurt myself trying to get free. I am totally house broken, you won’t see this guy having any accidents!! I’m not going to lie but it does take a little bit of daily care to look as handsome as I do, so every day my foster mom helps keep me looking good! Like I said before exercise is a BIG must for me, my foster mom and I take multiple daily walks to keep me satisfied. A dog like me has so much to offer so I need the right kinda forever family who can suit all my needs.

My ideal forever home should be in a quite neighborhood with a big fenced back yard, so I can stretch these legs, and can go for calm quite walks on leash too. I would prefer a family member to be home often so I won’t be too lonely and don't have to be crated. I have to have a dog sibling, I take comfort in having someone to pal around with and I won’t go out at night without a puppy pal by my side. It would also be good if my forever family had some bully experience to help me with my continued training and bully ways! I like children and am great around them, but my forever home should only have older kids. Cats and small dogs are really fun, and I love to chase them, so my perfect forever family shouldn’t have them. What can I say I’m an active kinda guy!

Like I said before I am the total bulldog package, who wouldn’t love a guy like me?

xxxxx
