My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

"Hans" is a handsome 5-6 year old male GSD who is sweet, mellow, and somewhat timid. He is friendly towards people, both those he knows as well as strangers. Hans is attached to the male "household alpha" and follows him everywhere; he enjoys resting in the study next to him while he’s on the computer. He is fine with other dogs but really doesn't  pay much attention to them. (After a few minutes at the dog park, he wanted to leave.) Hans has a strong prey drive and loves to chase squirrels, so it’s unlikely that he’ll be good with cats. Hans is a small GSD, and only weighs about 60 lbs.

Hans is very well behaved in the house and is left inside for about 6 hours with no problems when his people are gone during weekdays. However, sometimes he will counter surf if food is left sitting out. He knows the command “sit”, but has not received any formal obedience training.  Hans absolutely loves going on walks/runs and gets very excited when he sees the leash. He has endless endurance and can go for a two-hr run without even panting afterwards. He also runs well alongside a bicycle. Once, his foster caretaker was running him alongside his bike and fell off and lost the leash; Hans just stood next to him and waited patiently for him to get back on the bike. Hans also enjoys playing tug of war.

Hans was picked up as a stray in the eastern Sierra town of Susanville on Nov 23. Nobody came looking for him, so on Dec 13, GSRSV rescued him. Hans is in a foster home in Davis. His adoption fee is $200.
