Ruby's Story...
UPDATED BIO 1/10/2014: Ruby is a sweet little fuzzy 5 lb 6-7 year (corrected age) old girl who is being fostered in The Villages, FL. She has surrendered by her owner to a high-kill shelter with severe dry eye that was left untreated. When Ruby came to her foster home, she could hardly see. Her eyes were so caked with gunk that she formed an ulcer on her left eye. She has made incredible strides. Her ulcer is healing. Her eye ointments and drops are working. She can see so much better and we are expecting it to only continue to improve.

Ruby was very nervous around her FM when she came into rescue. She was scared to even have her eye drops administered, probably because of the pain she was experiencing. She is now a much happier girlie who seeks affection, and is playing with toys. She potties outside or on pads (most of the time). She is just a doll baby who needs TLC and a second chance at a happy life :) . PLEASE NOTE: Ruby is a very sweet and lovable little girl; however, because she is part Chihuahua, she does tend to bond to one person and has some guarding behavior if she is with that one person and others approach. Her adopters will need to be willing to continue to work with her on this issue, as this is not a positive behavior trait. (We are working with her in the foster home, as well.) She is also a very small yorkie, and with the guarding issue, it is probably best that she not be in the home with children under the age of 14 years old.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Ruby, a Tallahassee Yorkie, Yorkshire Terrier dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Yorkie, Yorkshire Terrier for sale in Tallahassee, or seeking a Yorkie, Yorkshire Terrier dog from a breeder in Tallahassee.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Tallahassee already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Tallahassee breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Yorkie, Yorkshire Terrier breeders who help with Yorkie, Yorkshire Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Tallahassee paves the way for another one to be saved.
